Heartbreaker

 

There's a chill in the air

that starts with my breath then reaches around choking me to death.

I left my heart wide open while keeping opinions to myself
leaving room for your self-wallowing to drag me down.

I was the shadow on the wall,

sun up till sundown.

I was the tick of the clock,

the ever-present tick and tock.

Time after time

I picked you up

 hoping to strengthen you

but it wasn't enough to stop

your destructive nature

so

 now I'm dead on the floor because you never noticed my asphyxiating tears.
